The actual number of emails that you can send from your community will vary depending on the reputation of your community's email domain address. Ultimately you can send as many emails as you'd like from your community; however building a good reputation will increase the chances of the emails reaching the recipients' Inbox rather than Spam folder or even being completely blocked.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when deciding the number of emails (invitations, reminders, notifications) to be sent on a day:
- How old is the community?
- What is the average number of emails sent out in previous days and weeks?
- Are they going to specific members? Or to non-members?
Older communities that have been sending out emails for quite a while have a better 'reputation'; therefore these communities can send a higher volume of emails. Conversely, newer communities may take a bit of time to build reputation so should not be sending out too many emails at once.
When handling a specific deployment, it is important to start with a lower number of invitations - 10% of the total deployment - and gradually move onto a higher number. This is an important practice that will prevent your community from being 'black-listed'.
