Unfortunately, emails don't always reach their intended recipients. Emails can bounce for a number of reasons:
- The recipient's inbox was full.
- The email address had bad syntax.
- The domain or user was unknown.
- An unspecified ISP server error.
- The account was inactive.
- A temporary domain failure.
- The ISP was blocked.
- The recipient made a spam complaint.
If email bounces occur frequently enough with a particular email address, the Alida platform automatically marks that email address as Undeliverable. The Alida platform does the work for you so you do not need to manage these populations to keep your community healthy. However, repeatedly sending emails to invalid email addresses could damage your sender reputation and negatively affect email deliverability. The steps below walk you through how to obtain a list of email bounces for clean-up.
Detailed Steps
- Click New Member Group.
- In the Create Member Group dialog, in the Group name field, enter a name for the member group.
- From the For members who are list, select Undeliverable.
- To refine the member group and find bounces for a certain activity, add a filter condition for Activity Participation Status [Activity Name] Is Invited, but Not Started.
- Click Save.
- From the Member Group list, select the group you just created.
- On the toolbar, click Export.
