What is the change?
As of March 8, 2016, all new Communities will have the reCAPTCHA widget added to their portal’s login page.
What is reCAPTCHA?
reCAPTCHA is a free service that protects websites from spam and abuse. It uses advanced risk analysis techniques to tell humans and bots apart. While protecting websites from attacks by automated software, it allows humans to pass through with ease.
Why does it appear on the login page?
We have it on our login page to help protect the Community from abuse. A malicious user can attack the login page with an automated script by trying various username/password combinations.
What is the Member Experience?
To view the member experience, please see the linked Knowledge Base article in the More Information section.
Whom does it impact?
This change will appear for all new Community portals. Pre-existing portals will not be affected.
Can I remove the widget from my Portal?
As this is an important security feature, it is not recommended to remove the reCAPTCHA widget. However, if you require the removal of this widget, please contact Technical Support for assistance.
Is the reCAPTCHA responsively designed?
No. The reCAPTCHA does not resize itself responsively as a screen is resized. You can, however, resize it for mobile or desktop by modifying its attributes. For information on how to do this, please contact Technical Support.
