This article illustrates how to update the Regional and Language settings in Windows when date/time data in Excel is incorrectly formatted.
This issue is specific to the data for common questions that are being exported, such as:
- PanelistJoinDate
- LastParticipationDate
- LastInvitationDate
- Date Questions (i.e. any data displaying DATE and TIME)
The issue results in different, inconsistent formats for date and time being used throughout the whole Excel sheet.

Detailed Steps
Solution for Windows 10
- Click on Start and go to Settings.
- Click on the Time & Language.
- Click on the Date & Time.
- Under Formats section, the Short date needs to be change from dd-MMM-yy to M/d/yyyy.
- Click Apply and then OK.
- Download the Excel file again from the application and reopen for the changes to take effect.
Solution for Windows 7
- Click on Start and go to Control Panel.
- Click on the Clock, Language and Region option and then select Region and Language.
- Under Formats tab, the Short date needs to be change from dd-MMM-yy to M/d/yyyy.
- Click on Apply and then OK.
- Download the Excel file again from the application and reopen for the changes to take effect.
Solution for Windows XP
- Click on Start and go to Control Panel.
- Click on Region and Language.
- Click the Regional Options tab, under the heading Standards and formats, select English (United States).
- Select the Customize button and click the Date tab.
- Under the heading Short date format, change this change from; dd-MMM-yy to M/d/yyyy.
- Download the Excel file again from the application and reopen for the changes to take effect.
