An invalid email address can be any address with a typo and/or addresses that have expired due to non-use.
Examples
- Address with a typo:
If someone wanted to opt-in as johndoepanelist@yahoo.com but opts-in as johndopanelist@yahoo.com (missing an “e”), this is referred to as an Invalid Email.
- Address expired due to non-use:
Addresses that have expired due to non-use. Let’s say a panelist from Yahoo opts-in but does not log into their account for five months. Yahoo may expire that account since the user is not using it anymore. This is another type of an Invalid Email Address.
More Information
Mailing to these types of addresses will result in a hard bounce.
Alida's double opt-in process helps ensure that the first definition is stripped out during the PQ process, thereby helping to protect your Sender Reputation.
Mailing to Invalid Email Addresses may lower your Sender Reputation, thereby causing email deliverability issues. As such, this may contribute to having low response rates.
