On the Exports tab, you can export specific survey data or an entire survey.
Respondent data
You can
export
specific participant data for external analysis and
reporting. The application supports the following data export file formats:
- Comma-separated values (CSV)
- Unicode CSV
- SPSS (V12, V14, V20)
- UnicodeCSVLabelled
- UnicodeCSVEnhanced
Studies
Export an
entire survey if you want to import it into another survey or community.
Survey exports include the following information:
- All participant data
- All survey settings
- Scripting
- Survey properties
You can import the exported XML file back into the application to merge it with an existing survey or to create a new one.
Tip: Use the export and import features to move a survey
into another community.
Export a survey to one of the following XML formats:
- PXML: An application-specific XML format. Variables have been created to handle all survey elements from the application, except for media files, which are not exported.
- Triple-S: An XML standard
that allows for survey data and variables to be transferred between
different survey programs running on different software and hardware platforms.
Note:These are some limitations of Triple-S exports:
- Visual questions are converted to their flat equivalent. For a table outlining these questions, see Flat equivalents of HTML questions.
- Any files that are uploaded to either the survey or shared media folder are excluded when the survey is exported to Triple-S format.
- Only the following
question types are supported:
- Single Choice
- Multi Choice
- Numeric
- Date
- Verbatim
- Any unsupported
questions types and survey objects are excluded from the export.
For example, if a survey contains a loop, an invitation action, and a grid question these are excluded when the survey is exported to Triple-S format.
If you export a survey, any media files (video or audio) for the Media question are not exported in the PXML or Triple-S file. For surveys imported into the same community, the application refers to the original source survey and streams the media. However, for surveys imported into different communities, you must upload the media file again.
