Redirect from a survey to another survey

Redirect participants from one survey to another upon completion.

When participants complete the first survey, they are shown a message and marked as Completed before they are redirected to the second survey.

The steps in this topic are applicable to the following redirect workflows:

Note: You must be an Admin, or a Power User with the Can access recruitment surveys permission, to complete any steps below that involve editing or distributing a recruitment survey.

Redirecting from a power survey to a survey of any type is not supported currently.

1. Open the second survey (the survey you want to redirect to).
2. On the activity toolbar, click the Distribute.
3. On the toolbar, click New Link.
4. Optional: Choose whether to append an identity profile variable.
   1. Select Identity Variable.
   2. Select an identity profile variable from the menu.

   Selecting this option formats the link with the correct syntax. You will have to edit this link later.

5. Click Generate Live Link.
   Note: Only Power Users and Author users that have the Can schedule distributions permission enabled for their user account, and Admins, can generate live links. Otherwise, the Generate Live Link button is disabled.
6. Copy the link by doing any of the following:
   • Right-click and select Copy.
   • If you are on a PC, press Ctrl+C.
   • If you are on a Mac, press Command+C.

Tip: If you are nervous about losing the live link during this task, paste it in a text editor now so it is available later.

7. Open the first survey (the survey that will redirect to the second survey).
8. In the first survey, from the Survey Toolbox, under Survey Structure, do one of the following:
   • Drag the End Survey action to the Table of Contents.
   • Click the End Survey action.
   
9. In the Table of Contents, click End Survey.
   The Edit Pane appears.
10. Optional: Edit the End survey name.
    End survey names:

    • Should be unique.
    • Can contain all alphanumeric characters and all symbols.
    • Are not displayed to participants.

    Note: The maximum number of characters is 100.
11. From the Reason to end survey list, select Complete.
12. Select Display message and redirect.
13. Edit the message participants see when they complete the first survey.
14. In the Redirect to URL field, paste the live activity link from the second survey.
15. Replace [%insert value%] by piping in an identity profile variable.
