Importing lets you share surveys across application instances.
To perform this task, you must have a survey exported from the
application as a JSON or ZIP file.
Note:
- Surveys can only be
imported as surveys. You cannot import a survey as a power survey, or vice
versa.
- Classic surveys can only be imported as
classic surveys. Likewise, modern surveys can only be imported as modern
surveys.
- This workflow is
currently not supported for recruitment surveys. As a workaround, you can
import the survey and save parts of it to the Template Library. Then, use the
templates to re-create the survey as an recruitment survey.
-
Click the
App Drawer and select
Activities, and then click
New Project.
-
Under Build Survey from Scratch, click
Import.
-
Click Choose File to browse for the file, or drag and
drop the file into the dotted line area.
-
In the
Name field, type a name for the imported
survey.
-
Choose a
Locale setting.
This step applies only if you have multiple communities with
different locales.
This setting determines the survey's default locale after it is
imported into the application.
| If the file contains
|
Then after it is imported
|
| A default locale that matches the
Locale setting
|
The survey's default locale remains the
same. Question and answer text are preserved.
|
| An assigned locale that matches the
Locale setting
|
The assigned locale becomes the
survey's new default locale. Question and answer text are preserved.
|
| No locales that match the
Locale setting
|
The survey structure is imported
successfully, but question and answer text fields are blank. You must review
the survey and enter question and answer text.
|
Note:
- The application only
imports locales that match active locales in the destination community.
- Editing the file
directly to change the locale is not recommended.
-
Select or clear Include all assets (images, videos, etc.) with
file.
This option controls whether image, video, subtitle, and audio files are
copied over during the import process, and is selected by default.
Note: Selecting this option will lengthen the import process, especially if
there are many large files. The import process times out after 5 minutes; if
the import with assets cannot be completed by then, an error will occur.
-
Select
Single response or
Multiple responses.
-
Select an access level.
The access settings you can apply depend on the user role you
have been assigned.
| Access Setting
|
User Roles
|
Description
|
| Admin Only |
Admin |
Only Admin users can access the
activity. |
| Everyone
|
Power User, Author
|
All other users in the application
instance can access the activity.
|
| Teams
|
Admin, Power User, Author
|
All users that belong to the assigned
team(s) can access the activity. If you belong to multiple teams, you can
assign the activity to all of the teams you belong to, or just one or more
specific teams.
|
Note:
- The access
settings options are displayed if your account has the
Can change access settings permission
applied.
- If your account
does not have this permission, the activity will be assigned to the teams you
belong to, or if you don't belong to any teams it will be available to
everyone.
- Admins have access
to all activities, regardless of access settings.
-
Click Create.
The newly imported survey opens on the Build page. At this
point you can check the survey and fix any errors if necessary.
These elements are preserved during the import process:
- Survey steps and step configuration
- Internal references to survey questions
and elements
- Translations
- Images (if Include all
assets (images, videos, etc.) with file was selected)
- Video, subtitle, or audio files (if
Include all assets (images, videos, etc.) with file
was selected)
Image, video, subtitle, and audio files are not in the ZIP file. Instead, they are
copied from the original application instance (where the imported survey was
authored originally) to the new one at the time of import.
Although the survey structure is maintained, these references may be broken and need
to be reviewed and fixed:
- References to respondent variables
- References to system variables
- References to user-created profile
variables
