Remove a post or reply

Remove your own post if you change your mind, or moderate forums by removing others' posts if they contain abusive or offensive content.

You can remove all posts, whereas participants can only remove their own posts. You can also see removed posts and, if necessary, restore them.

In a post or reply, click the options menu, and select Remove.

Your forum view varies depending on whether a post or reply was removed and your permissions. The following table describes what different users see.

Scenario	Participants' view	Notes
The moderator removes a post.	The post changes from active (black text, all options available) to inactive (gray text, no options available).	If the post has replies, a placeholder informs participants that the post was removed. If the post does not have replies, neither the post or the placeholder appear. Participants do not see the post's replies.
The moderator removes a reply.	The reply becomes inactive (no options available), while the top-level post and surrounding replies remain active.	A placeholder informs the participant who owns the reply that the reply was removed. All participants still see the top-level post and surrounding replies.
Participants remove their own posts or replies.	The post changes from active (black text, all options available) to inactive (gray text, no options available). The reply becomes inactive (no options available). For a reply, the top-level post and surrounding replies remain active.	The post changes from active (black text, all options available) to inactive (gray text, no options available). The post or reply becomes inactive (no options available). For a reply, a notification message informs the participant who owns the reply that the reply was removed, while the top-level post and surrounding replies remain active.

To undo the removal, at the top of the post, click Restore. The post and its associated replies will be visible to participants again.
