Distribute a UserZoom survey

Use Community to distribute a UserZoom activity.

Get the segment link

Use the study segment link to redirect participants from Community to UserZoom.

1. Create your study in UserZoom.
2. In your study, select the Participants & Screeners tab.
3. In the Recruit your Own Users area, click Add Segment.
   1. In the Segment Name field, type a name for the segment.
   2. In the Number of Participants field, type the maximum number of participants you want to participate in the survey.
4. From the Recruiting Methods list, select Invitation links.
5. In the Multi-Use Link area, click Show panel and single-use links.
6. Copy and paste the Multi-use link into a text editor such as Notepad.

7. Edit the segment link.
   1. Select the m after the domain name, and change it to q.

      Note: UserZoom automatically appends member variables to a survey URL. You are not required to append the link with the memberId and communicationId variables.
   2. Copy the modified link.

Create a new external activity in Community

Use Community to prepare your UserZoom activity for distribution.

1. Open Community in a new tab.
2. Create an external activity.
3. Edit the participation data collection links.
   Note: The over quota link is not compatible with UserZoom.
   1. Copy the respective Completed Link for your pod from Participation data links.
   2. Paste the Completed Link into a text editor such as Notepad.
   3. Select and delete the following:
      MemberId=[url("memberId")]&CommunicationId=[url("communicationId")]&
   4. Replace the following with the URL you want to direct participants to:
      [url("communityUrl")]

   5. Optional: Modify the Disqualified Link.

Add the redirect links to your UserZoom study

1. Open your UserZoom study.
2. In the authoring toolbar, click Task Builder.
3. In the left-hand navigation menu, click Final Pages & Redirects.
4. In the Complete area, from the Go to final page list, select Redirect to URL.
5. Paste the modified Completed Link in the text field.
6. Optional: Repeat steps 4-5 for the Disqualified Link.

Create and edit the invitation email in Community

Use a pipe to append the Member ID variable to the invitation links.

1. In your Community external activity, Create an invitation.
2. Append the Member ID to the [%ActivityLink%] variable.
   1. Place your cursor at the end of the [%ActivityLink%] variable.
   2. From the Insert Variable list, select Append Variable to URL.

      Example: Activity link with piped variables

   3. Select QuestionName,TypeProfileVariableHere and type pid,MemberID.

   4. Copy the appended activity link variable.
3. Append the Member ID to the Click here to start to start link.
   1. Right-click Click here to start to start and select Edit Link.
   2. Paste the appended variable you copied in Step 2 in the URL field.
