This article applies to customers who are authoring an unmoderated usability activity in multiple languages. Currently when you view a Usability Task question in the Translations workspace, a Translated task link field appears. This field does not work. Participants using a translated locale will still see the source locale version of the Figma prototype.
To set up different Figma prototypes for each language, use the workaround described below. You'll need multiple versions of the Usability Task question, one for each language. Update the Figma prototype link in each Usability Task question to point to the appropriate translated prototype. Use survey logic to control which Usability Task question is shown for each language.
Example
The survey has two languages. The source locale is English (United States) and the added translation locale is French (Canada). A usability task has to be set up in each language.
Detailed Steps
- Add the second locale.
- Click Translations.
- Click Manage Locales.
- Select the additional locales (for example, French (Canada)), and click Save.
- Click Editor.
- Nest your Usability Task question inside a Survey Logic action.
- In the Survey Logic action, add a condition for the language (for example, Respondent Variables Respondent Locale is English (United States)).
- In the Table of Contents, duplicate the Survey Logic/Usability Task question component for each language.
- For each duplicated Survey Logic/Usability Task question component:
- In the Survey Logic action, update the condition to refer to the correct language.
- In the Usability Task question, update the Figma prototype link to point to the translated Figma prototype, and then redefine the start screen, goal, and path/end screen.
- Click Translations.
- For all non-Usability Task questions and survey elements, add translations as you normally would.
- Leave the source locale version of the Usability Task question alone; you do not need to enter a translation.
- For the translated versions of the Usability Task question, add a translation of the task instructions in the applicable language.
You must add a translation. Otherwise, the instruction text will appear blank. - Preview and test your survey.
