Tip: Random distribution and Least Filled concept testing are available for surveys! Both of these methods allow you to achieve even distribution without scripting. For more information, see Quick comparison: Random distribution, Least Filled concept testing, even distribution scripts.
1. How do I combine templates? (E.g. use one set from the 5 item template (template 1) and one set from the 15 item template (template 2))
To use multiple templates in your study, you will need to import each template separately into your community (repeat step 1 in the Detailed Steps for each template you are using) and drag the appropriate blocks as required into your study.
Please be mindful of the number of quotas created in the process. We recommend that you do not exceed 50 quotas in one survey. For example:
- If you combine 1 set of 5 concept block twice in your study, this will create 10 quotas.
- If you combine 1 set of 5 concept block and 1 set of 15 concept block, this will create 20 quotas.
- If you combine 1 set of 40 concept block, you cannot add a 15 concept block. This will create 55 quotas.
2. What happens if I need to add more sets than allowed in the template? (E.g. I need 7 sets of even distribution and each set is up to 5 concepts)
Please contact your Customer Success Manager or Technical Support for programming assistance.
3. What happens if I use template 3 (up to 40 concepts) and I need to use more even distribution setups?
Please contact your Customer Success Manager or Technical Support to consult on a case by case basis.
4. Does this work for different languages?
Yes. In case your community does not support English, please read this article to update the template to match the community's default language. This step is required before importing the template to your community.
5. Can I add videos as concepts?
Please contact your Customer Success Manager or Technical Support for programming assistance.
6. I am using a template that assigns a single concept to each respondent. I understand this template uses piping. However, I have a concept question that does not support piping, like inserting an image in a highlighter, what should I do?
For questions where piping is not supported, you will have to setup a separate question for each concept. You can create a condition referencing EDS#_CONCEPT (one that contains concept name) question and place the question inside.
For example, say you want to show 1 out of 3 concepts per respondent, there are 5 concept questions to ask(Q1 to Q5), and Q5 is a highlighter question. For Q1 to Q4, you can use piping to insert assigned concept name or image (You only need one set of questions) as usual. For Q5, you can create 3 conditions:
IF_CONCEPT1_Q5, condition is IF EDS5_CONCEPT = 1.
IF_CONCEPT2_Q5, condition is IF EDS5_CONCEPT = 2.
IF_CONCEPT3_Q5, condition is IF EDS5_CONCEPT = 3.
Each condition will contain one highligher question associated to each concept image. Here's a screenshot of how it looks.

Troubleshooting
I dragged the same block across into my study and now I see "Copy1" at the end of all the question names.
You can delete the entire block with "Copy1" and simply drag over the correct block again from the template study.
I deleted something I shouldn't have and my study isn't validating.
If you know exactly what you deleted, you can drag it over from the template study again. If you are not sure what was deleted, please contact your Customer Success Manager or Technical Support to have programming look into the issue.
My quota distribution doesn't look even after I run ATR and check the Quotas tab.
If you have termination points set up in your study after a concept is assigned, then the distribution may be skewed. Also, if any of the concept conditions were edited, this can affect the distribution. Please contact your Customer Success Manager or Technical Support to have programming look into the issue if you are still not seeing the results you expect.
