information about the recode:

If you have created profile variable categories, the categories assigned to each profile variable are displayed next to the profile variable in the Based On drop-down list.
If you want to save the recode as a recode template, it must be based on a profile variable field.
-
From
Calculate Time Periods by, select the
appropriate time period:
- Years
- Months
Note: For Number questions, you must select Years as the time period. The Months option is not supported for Number questions. For Number questions the Group Time Periods recode works by subtracting each response value from the current year when the report runs. You can use this recode when:- For privacy reasons, your survey only records each participant's birth year instead of their exact birth date.
- You have an existing survey that only records the year for birth date or any other value.
For example, if you run the report in 2025 and you want to group members where there birth year is 2000 or less, the recode is calculated as 2025 - 2020 = 25. For this first criteria you would enter is Less than or equal to 25 year(s). You could then add additional criteria to the recode to match your required logic.
-
Add the required groups to your recode:
- Less than <time period>: Specify the number of months or years and enter a name for the group. All responses less than this value will be included.
- Add a group: To add one or more additional groups, click Add Group, specify the months or years for the group, and enter a name for the group.
- <time period> or more: Specify the number of months or years and enter a name for the group. All responses more than this value will be included.
- Remove a group:
If necessary, you can remove any of the groups you add by clicking the minus
button next to the group.
The following recode example creates groups for commonly defined age ranges based on the members' birth year.
Note that the end of the range for each group is excluded. For example, the second group above includes members between the ages of 18 and 34. 35 year olds are only included in the following group.
-
