Present a video or audio file and some instructional text to
participants.
Before you upload a media file, ensure that the:
- Media file is in one of
the following formats:

- Be careful not to delete a
media file after it has been uploaded it in case that file is used for
different questions and
surveys.
Note:
- The default resolution
and aspect ratio of the video player is 640 x 360/16:9. When you upload a video
clip that has an aspect ratio other than 16:9, the clip appears letterboxed. In
some cases, a black border may be encoded into the video.
- Media-HTML5 questions
are not supported on Windows Phone and Blackberry devices.

In
Power Survey Authoring, click the
Questionnaire tab.

On the
Authoring toolbar, hover over
Question, and then select
Media-HTML5.

Type a name for the question, and then click
OK.

Add the question text.

Click the
Question field, and then type the
question text.
For information on formatting the text and adding files
such as images, see
Editing toolbar.

Click
Update.
Note:
- The application
automatically removes any Javascript that you add to question text, instruction
text, or content boxes.

Optional:
Click the
Question field, type the question text in the
Question Editor, and then click
Update.
The text appears above the media player when the participant
views the survey.

In the
Media section, select an option to:

Insert Media button.
- Click
Upload, and then browse to the media
file.
- Under
Play media as, select the media type:
Video or
Audio.
- Click
Insert.
Note:
- The media file
can't exceed 250 MB.
- The recommended
video file format is .mp4 with an upload limit of 250 MB. All other video file
formats will be converted to .mp4 with an upload limit of 100 MB.
- Ensure that the
metadata is stripped from audio files. If an audio file contains metadata, it
does not play to completion.
- The media file
name can only includes the letters A-Z, the numbers 0-9, and underscores (_).
- You can receive
a message that the media is still processing if the clip is lengthy. Click
OK, to continue working and then
save the question. Before you validate the survey, wait a few minutes.

- Copy the link from
the third-party website hosting the media file.
- Paste the URL in
the
Media file field.
Note: The URL must:
- Be unencrypted,
publicly accessible, and in a valid file format.
- Link directly to
a .mp3 or .mp4 file on a cloud storage site.

Optional:
In the
Properties section, set the question
properties.
- From the
Media type list, select the file type.
The default is
Video.
- From the
Respondent media player controls list,
select the media player options.

Note:
- A
page cannot contain a Media-HTML5 question
that is set to Auto-next after media completes.
- A page can contain
more than one Media-HTML5 question, however, their
Media completion settings must be the
same.

In the
Authoring toolbar, click
Preview and confirm the media file plays
without error.

Click
Save.
