By filtering report data, you focus your analysis only on participants who meet the conditions you specify.

On the report toolbar, click
Filter.
The Filter panel appears.

Set your filter options.
The following table refers to the preceding image, and explains the various options in the Filter panel.
Option Description 1. Include/Exclude Specify whether to include or exclude data from participants based on the filter conditions that follow. 2. AND/OR Specify whether participants have to meet any conditions (OR) or all conditions (AND) to have their data included or excluded. 3. Tip: If you have multiple multilingual communities, use Respondent Variables to filter your report by the survey language and member locale.4. Question or profile variable Question Choose the profile variable or question from the list, or search for the profile variable or question by name. 5. Answer (Rank Order or Allocation question) If the condition is based on a Rank Order or Allocation question, specify the answer. 6. Condition operator Select the operator for the condition. For most question types, the options are:
- Is
- Is not
For Number and Allocation questions, the options are:
- Equals
- Does not equal
- Greater than
- Greater than or equal to
- Less than
- Less than or equal to
For Date questions, the options are:
- Is
- Is not
- Is after
- Is on or after
- Is before
- Is on or before
Note: You cannot use Date profile variables to create a filter condition. However, Date questions, ResponseDate, and CompletionDate are supported.7. Answer or value Select one or more answers or values for the condition. - For most question types, select one or more answers.
- For Number and Allocation questions, type a numerical value.
- For Rank Order questions, select the ranks associated with the answer.
- For Date questions, use the calendar picker to select a date.
8. Add a condition Click the plus sign button to add another condition. The relationship between conditions depends on whether AND or OR is used. 9. Delete a condition Click the x
button to delete an unnecessary condition.
Tip:
- Use Respondent Variables > Response Start Date to filter responses based on the date participants started responding.
- Use Respondent Variables > Response Complete Date to filter responses based on the date participants completed their responses.

Optional:
Click
Participant Count to see how many
participants will be included in the report after you apply your filter.
Participant Count is useful for spotting possible errors in filter logic. For example, if you expect approximately 200-300 participants to be included after you apply a filter, but Participant Count shows 0 participants will be included, you may want to check your filter again.

Apply.
The report updates and displays data from participants who meet the filter's conditions. Under the report toolbar, a filter statement appears that informs you which filter conditions have been applied to the report data.
