Adding a basic filter

Use basic filters to select filter conditions from predefined drop-down lists.

You can add basic filters from the field picker or from the Data table.

1. Open the dashboard in edit mode.
2. Do one of the following:
   • In the field picker, hover over the field to filter and click Filter by field.
   • In the Data table, click the gear icon next to the column to filter and select Filter.
   
   A new filter is added to the Filters panel.
3. Select from the standard filter options to define your filter criteria and then select or type in the value to match, as appropriate.
   The standard filter options available depend on the field type:
   • String: For text dimensions, a list of existing values for the field is displayed. As you type the values are narrowed down to those that include this text. To filter on a large set of values, you can paste a list of values in the value field.
   • Number: For numeric options, you can select options such as equal to or greater than.
   • Date: For date dimensions, you can select a time range.
4. To add additional criteria to the filter, click the plus sign (+) to the right of the filter. The new criteria appears as either an AND condition or an OR condition depending on the type of filter option.
   
5. To see the results of the filter, click Run.
6. In the Edit Tile dialog box, click Save.
7. In the dashboard toolbar, click Save.
