Often the answer label is not suitable to pipe in its initial form. In these cases, recodes can be used to pipe in answers into a follow-up question. A recode is first created with the labels and logic for each answer option. The recode is then used as the pipe in the follow-up question.
Example
You want to pipe in selected answers from a previous question, but wish to change the label so that it matches the context of the follow up question better. For example, a preferred method of transport, and the answers in this question are:
- I drive my car
- I take public transit
