Example - You have 25 new names for a new frozen dinner product and would like each respondent to rate 1 out of the 25 names (Power Surveys)

Tip: Random distribution and Least Filled concept testing are available for surveys! Both of these methods allow you to achieve even distribution without scripting. For more information, see Quick comparison: Random distribution, Least Filled concept testing, even distribution scripts.

You have 25 new names for a new frozen dinner product and would like each respondent to rate 1 out of the 25 names

Detailed Steps

1. Import Template 3 (up to 40 concepts) into the application:
   • Download the PXML template here.
   • In the Surveys app, click New Project.
   • Under Power Survey, click Import.
   • Select the PXML template you downloaded, and click Open.
   • Give the power survey an internal name.
   • Click Upload.
2. Add the template to your study:
   • Create/author your power survey as required.
   • Go to the Questionnaire tab of your study.
   • Click on Library on the Authoring toolbar.
   • In the Library Browser, look for the template study in the Studies section, under Pending Studies (the study you created in step 1).
   • Expand the template study in the Library Browser and drag the block into your Questionnaire Tree as required. Do not rename any of the blocks or questions.
   • Drag the EDS40_ONE_OF_MAX_40 block (from template 3) into your study.
     
3. Set up Even Distribution:
   • Click on the EDS40_CONCEPT question and update the answer options with the list of your 25 frozen dinner names. Remove the extra 15 options at the end of the list.
     Note: when you label these answer options here, the text will be piped into the concept question and be shown to respondents.
     
4. Create your concept questions:
   • Author your concept questions in the EDS40_QUESTIONS_HERE block. There will be only one set of concept questions and assigned concept will be piped in.
     
   • In questions that you want to show assigned concept, insert the pipe into the question text. Click on the EDS40_CONCEPT_PIPE_EXAMPLE text instruction and copy the pipe that will be used, in this case [%EDS40_CONCEPT%]. You can paste this into any concept questions as required.
     
     
     
     For example:
     
   • Delete the EDS40_CONCEPT_PIPE_EXAMPLE text instruction.
5. Validate and test your survey.
