Tip: Random distribution and Least Filled concept testing are available for surveys! Both of these methods allow you to achieve even distribution without scripting. For more information, see Quick comparison: Random distribution, Least Filled concept testing, even distribution scripts.
Note: If you have not used any even distribution templates before, you must first review the instructions to set up an individual set in either of these two links in order to learn how to use the templates in this article.

Definitions
- QUALIFICATIONS - To assign one or more concepts to a respondent that the respondent qualifies for (e.g. based on a previous question). If a respondent does not qualify for any, then he/she will be disqualified from the survey. If a respondent qualifies for fewer concepts than the desired minimum, he/she can still complete the survey but will be shown only those that he/she qualified for. For example, you want to show 2 out of 5 concepts per respondent, but a respondent only qualifies for 1 concept, then only 1 concept will be shown.
- EXCLUSION - When assigning 2+ concepts to a respondent, you may want to evenly assign concepts but exclude certain combinations. (e.g. never assign concept 1 and concept 2 together) There is no exclusion when assigning 1 concept to a respondent.
Note: When applying both qualifications and exclusions together - if a respondent only qualifies for concepts that cannot be assigned together, it will assign concepts that have the lowest count at that point in time. E.g. you want to assign 2 out of 5 concepts and concept 1, 2 and 3 are in one exclusion group. If a respondent qualifies for concept 1,2 and 3 only then the respondent will be assigned to only one of those concepts that has the lowest count at that point in time.
We currently have the following templates:
-
Template 1a - Assign ONE out of up to 15 concepts to a respondent with QUALIFICATION.
For Details, click here. -
Template 2a - Assign ONE OR MORE out of up to 15 concepts to a respondent with QUALIFICATION, EXCLUSION, or BOTH.
For Details, click here.
Note: Both templates only allow a maximum of 15 concepts in a study. If you require more concepts, you will need to obtain a custom programming quote from your Customer Success Manager.
