How do I filter a report based on a specific invitation, reminder, or activity link?

The application does not support filtering reports for specific invitations, reminders or activity links. However, this can be accomplished by appending answers to the activity links. You will need to:

• Create the invitation, reminder, or activity link.
• Append the answer value to the [%ActivityLink%] pipe in invitations or reminders.
• If you use activity links, append the answer value to the activity link.
• Distribute the survey.
• Filter the report by the hidden question.

Pre-requisites

• Create a hidden Single Choice question in the survey or power survey.
• Add the answer values for the link names to the hidden question.

Detailed Steps

Step 1. Create the invitation, reminder or activity link

1. Go to the Surveys app and open the survey.
2. On the Distribute tab, click New and then select Invitation, Invitation Reminder, or Activity Link.
3. Enter the distribution details.
4. Click Create.

Step 2. If you are using an invitation or reminder, append the answer value to the [%ActivityLink%] pipe

1. Open the invitation or reminder for editing.
2. On the Message tab, edit the email body.
3. Append &QuestionName=AnswerValue to the [%ActivityLink%] pipe.
   • Replace QuestionName with the name of the hidden question.
   • Replace AnswerValue with a value that matches the answer values for the question.
   • For example: [%ActivityLink%]&InvitationName=Facebook
   • 
4. Click Source in the top left corner of the edit toolbar to switch to HTML view, and then append &QuestionName=AnswerValue to the [%ActivityLink%] hyperlink for "Click here to start."
   

Step 3. If you are using an activity link, append the answer value to the activity link

1. Click Generate Live Link.
2. Copy and paste the live link into a Notepad or any text editor tool.
3. Append ?QuestionName=AnswerValue to the end of the link.
   • For example: https://communityname.com/c/a/UniqueSurveyId?QuestionName=AnswerValue
   • Replace QuestionName with the name of the hidden question.
   • Replace AnswerValue with a value that matches the answer values for the question.
   • For example: https://communityname.com/c/a/UniqueSurveyId?LinkName=Instagram

Step 4. Distribute the survey

1. Distribute the invitation, reminder or activity link as you normally would.

Step 5. Filter the report by the hidden question

1. After data is collected, go to the Surveys app and open the survey.
2. Click the Report tab.
3. Click Standard Report.
4. On the toolbar, click Filter.
5. Create a filter condition that references the hidden question and invitation/reminder/link name.
